connecting policymakers with sound science
The Buffett Early Childhood Fund is supporting the Harvard Center on the Developing Child, which brings sound and accurate science to bear on public decision making affecting the lives of young children. The Center houses the National Scientific Council on the Developing Child and the National Forum on Early Childhood Program Evaluation. The Council seeks to build strong, informed, bipartisan leadership in both the public and private sectors in order to close the gap between what we know and what we do to promote successful learning, adaptive behavior, and sound physical and mental health for all young children. In part, the Council and the National Conference of State Legislatures are working together to better inform public policy decision-making within states. The Forum focuses on the analysis, synthesis and communication of research evidence on program effectiveness to inform science-based policymaking and practice.
